Staff Wellbeing Charter

Support for Teachers:

  • Consistent start and end time to day (expectation for all teaching staff is 8.30-3.20.
  • Preparing resources – full-time reprographics role in place, printing facilities across the academy.
  • Centralised resourcing for lessons
  • Classroom support duties – support for classroom teachers
  • Team of cover supervisors, to keep ‘rarely cover’ situations to a minimum
  • Centralised detentions – all detentions supervised by middle or senior leaders
  • Reports – no individualised written reports; centrally generated data reports
  • Parent/Carer conduct - support staff with abusive or vexatious parents/carers
  • Careers team – support with wider student development   

Supporting teachers’ personal needs:

  • HR support on site
  • Senior Mental Health Lead on site
  • Wellbeing guidance/advice posters in the staffroom
  • Confidential Wellbeing drop-in sessions   

Communication and CPD

  • Staff Briefing – A consistent message for all; all teaching and support staff expected to attend; regular updates for SEND and vulnerable students, 
  • CPD time scheduled as 1hr slots, on ‘Training Mondays’
  • Leadership development at all levels – Structure of Leadership team, Clarity of roles and responsibilities, Department structure; Training schedule – weekly training for senior leaders, weekly training for HoFs
  • Developmental support for T&L - a dedicated hour each week for instructional coaching/Faculty development

Wellbeing 

  • Golden Ticket – allows all staff half a day paid leave
  • Thursday Fitness – 7:15-7:45 weekly HIT session open to all staff
  • Sports Centre on site – facilities available to all staff (before and after school day)
  • Gym - newly set up and available to staff before or after school
  • Team building initiatives e.g. staff to staff praise 'Wednesday Well wishes', student to staff praise 'Teacher Shout outs'
