Year 7 Success

Year 7s have had some amazing success this half term in PE, please the list below:

Year 7 Girls Sportshall Athletics South Yorkshire Final:

The final for this event was held at the English Institue of Sport in Sheffield. The girls got the chance to compete at this amazing venue which is a training facility for numerous GB athletes. Each of the Year  7s competed in both a track and field event which tested various areas of athletic ability. The girls were amazing in all of the events and put a brilliant amount of effort in meaning they managed to come 3rd overall out of 4 boroughs representing South Yorkshire.  The photo shows our students with their 3rd place medals. (Maisie, Halle, Kezia, Darcie, Skyla, Emily, Maddie and Miya)

Year 7 Boys Rotherham Schools Cup Final:

After winning three matches in the group stages, quarter and semifinals of the cup, our Year 7 Boys team progressed to the final of the Rotherham Schools Cup. A huge occasion at Wickersley School for the team to showcase their talent in front of hundreds of spectators. Unfortunately, the result didn't go in favour of our Year 7's even after a very close game in terrible conditions against a highly talented team. Our Year 7's gave their absolute all and were unlucky not to score in the match. The team showed outstanding spirit and professionalism throughout the game and Mr Otter was incredibility proud of the all and hope to reach the final again next Year. (Max, Frankie, Brad, Oscar, Jack F, Jack W, Jacob, Gene, Lucas, Alfie, Wilson, Oliver and Toby)

Year 7 Girls Netball Rotherham Cup Final:

Upon winning a tournament prior to the final, the Year 7 Girls Netball team managed to have the chance to represent Aston Academy at the Rotherham Schools Cup Final held at Wickersley on Saturday the 23rd of March. They played in the final against a talented team and narrowly missed out on a chance to play a final match. Both Mrs Ward and Miss Hollingworth were incredibly proud of the girls and their efforts representing Aston Academy. (Kezia, Hadley, Emily, Jasmine, Lalia, Neve, Halle, Evie, Maia and Indie)
