Y8-Y11 Netball

Read below for the Y8-Y11 netball

Y8:

The Y8 team edged a very close semi-final against Wales High School to make it through to the final against Wath. The game was neck and neck all the way through with both teams playing some outstanding Netball. At full time the score was level and so we moved into extra time. Again scores were level and so history was made as the first Netball match at Final's Day went to sudden death. Macey H won the toss which meant that Aston had the advantage of the centre pass. The girls worked hard to get the ball to Jessie B who handled the pressure brilliantly to score the winning point, meaning Aston were Y8 Rotherham Schools Champions!

Y9:

The Y9 team played Wickersley in the semi-final and played some excellent Netball to keep the scores close moving into the final quarter. Elizabeth C made several brilliant interceptions to regain possession and Cerys M showed real determination to drive the team forwards. Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be as Wickersley progressed through to the final. However, a third placed finish is something that the girls should be extremely proud of and they represented Aston extremely well.

Y10:

The Y10 team dominated their semi-final against Wath to comfortably progress onto the final against Wickersley. In a repeat of last years final, the girls knew that they would be pushed all the way by a very strong opponent. Captained by Bel S, the team gave every effort to try and retain their trophy. All players were outstanding but Evie E showed great resilience to battle on despite extreme pressure from her opposing players. Unfortunately, it wasn't meant to be this year as Wickersley claimed the trophy. However, the girls will be fighting hard to become champions again in Y11. We are very proud of each player and all their achievements.

Y11: Beat Wales and then lost to Wath

The Y11 team played Wales High School in a repeat of last years semi-final. In a very tight game the girls showed great determination to secure their place in the final against Wath. Captained by Naomi M, the team gave every effort to keep the scores close and Emily S battled throughout to keep Aston a threat going forwards. Unfortunately it wasn't meant to be as Wath claimed the trophy. However, all girls were outstanding and should be extremely proud of the commitment they have shown to Netball at Aston for the last 5 years.
