Our Pastoral Care at Aston Academy is at the heart of what we do. We want to encourage an integrated approach to the welfare of pupils which values a close relationship between home and school. The Pastoral Care Structure aims to provide a safe and secure environment for all, and provide opportunities for students to develop self-awareness, self-discipline and self-esteem. 

All staff have a responsibility, within the pastoral care structure of the school, for developing pupils' self-esteem, self-motivation and positive attitude within a supportive, non-threatening environment. Each year group has Form Tutors, a Learning and Progress Manager (LPM), a Pastoral and Learning Lead (PLL) and an Assistant Vice Principal/Vice Principal link. Together, they take responsibility for looking after all the needs of the students in the year group.

Form tutors are responsible for registration and monitoring of attendance within form groups. They develop strong positive relationships based on mutual respect and care. This helps develop knowledge and understanding of each individual student and their families. Form tutors meet with their students every school day for 30 minutes. 

LPMs and PLLs monitor the attendance and behaviour of their year group. They are responsible for the personal, social and academic development of the students in their cohort. They are responsible for the provision of support, advice and guidance to meet their pastoral needs. They may liaise with other members of staff and outside agencies to support the students in their care.
