Art & Design

Art and Design should cultivate and promote the potential and power of human creativity.

We aim to offer students a high-quality art and design education which engages, inspires and challenges pupils; equipping them with the knowledge and skills to experiment, invent and create their own works of art.

In the 21st century, art and design within schools should be both flexible and relevant.

As pupils progress, they will understand the intrinsic value of art for arts sake, but also the fundamental importance of creative thought in the context of wider learning.

Students will think critically and develop a thorough understanding of art and design and how both art and design reflect and shape our history, and contribute to the culture, creativity and wealth of our nation.

Design & Technology

Design and technology give students an understanding of the place of design, in the world. We teach students how to design everyday products that consider the needs of potential clients and consumers by using inspiration from the work of others and their own creativity. We aim to develop critical thinkers, problem solvers and designers who consider the impact of design on the environment, society and well being.
