Exam Information

At Aston Academy, your child will take exams and assessments as necessary, so that we can assess their progress internally.

Mock GCSE Exams take place in November and March of Year 11 before their final public exams in May/June. Sixth Form students will undertake mock examinations in January.

All these exams are taken under formal exam conditions in order to prepare students for the public examination series.

If you have any queries about exams please contact our Exams Manager by emailing info@astonacademy.org.

2024 GCSE and A Level results

The collection dates for results days 2024 are:

A Level - Thursday 15 August 2024

GCSE - Thursday 22 August 2024

If someone is collecting results other than the student, they must bring a note, signed by the student, giving them permission. Under no circumstances will results be given out over the phone to candidates, family members or friends.

On Results Day, you will be issued with a Provisional Statement of Results. Examination certificates will be handed out at a later date, so you will need to make arrangements to come in and collect them after this date.

Exam Wellbeing

We recognise that exams can be a stressful aspect of school life and we try to minimise this anxiety for students.
Mock examinations prepare students for the experience of the external examinations. These happen in both November and March for Year 11 and in January for Year 13.

Our PSHCE and tutorial programme also cover time-management, stress-reduction strategies and revision techniques – all designed to help students approach exams in a structured and calm way.

Form tutors and teachers are always available for students and parents to talk to about any concerns.

Kooth is also offering free virtual sessions for parents on the 22nd and 25th April 2024 that provide tips on how you can support your child to manage anxiety about their upcoming exams - please use this link to sign up.
